Plaque is a thin film that is made of millions of bacteria that have accumulated and covered the surface of your tooth. The bacteria turn all the sugars from your food and drinks into acid that will eat away at your teeth and results in tooth decay and decalcification stains, making plaque the enemy of every healthy smile out there. The best weapons that we have against plaque buildup is a consistent routine of brushing and flossing and regular visits to your dentist for cleanings, but even then, how do you really know how clean your smile is when plaque is pretty much invisible? Well now there’s a way to make all of that plaque show itself, giving you a better idea of the quality of your at-home oral hygiene routine, and it’s called Plaque HD.

What Is Plaque HD & How Does It Work?

Plaque HD is a plaque-identifying toothpaste that uses something called “targetol technology” to highlight areas of plaque buildup on your teeth. It contains special disclosing agents, which are designed to attach to the bacteria that makes up plaque and dye it to appear with a bright green coloration. This makes it easier to see the areas of your smile that you may have missed when brushing or flossing, allowing you to go back and clear away the leftover bacteria for a perfectly pristine smile. Plaque HD also contains fluoride, which will help restore valuable vitamins and minerals to your teeth that are lost due to plaque, keeping your smile strong and healthy. Plaque HD is even safe to use with braces to ensure that your smile stays clean throughout your orthodontic treatment!

How To Use Plaque HD Toothpaste

You can use Plaque HD just as you would any other toothpaste for your daily brushing routine. Simply put a pea-sized amount of the toothpaste onto your toothbrush and brush your teeth normally, making sure to brush the front, back, and biting surfaces of your teeth. Once you spit out the toothpaste, don’t rinse out your mouth with water just yet. Instead, look in the mirror and see if there are any areas of your smile that appear to be highlighted green to indicate if there are traces of plaque and bacteria left over. Put a little more toothpaste on your toothbrush and go over the green areas a second time and brush until the plaque is completely gone!
